LightWaterLife partner provides critical aid to families in Haiti

Rock Church of San Diego partnered with LightWaterLife to bring LightWaterLife humanitarian aid kits to the people of Haiti through Heart Soul Mind Strength (HSMS), a non-profit organization whose workers have provided support to Jeremie, Haiti since 2010.
After witnessing devastation from Haiti’s recent 7.2 magnitude earthquake, Rock Church saw an urgent need to provide humanitarian aid assistance through one of its missionary partners. They quickly responded by partnering with LightWaterLife to provide humanitarian aid kits that meet critical daily needs with the included 4-gallon water filtration system and solar power lighting. The LightWaterLife kits were transported by air to Haiti by Agape Flights, which has been flying earthquake relief to those affected by the recent catastrophe.
HSMS has built a relationship in a small, often-forgotten village with Pastor Emmanuel who helped select the recipient families of the humanitarian aid supplies. Lyndsay Anderson, Executive Director of HSMS Haiti stated, “These kits are awesome because they are so practical! Each kit has a Sawyer water filter (so important when this area’s main water source is rainwater or a nearby pond) that removes 99.99% of all bacteria and main water-borne diseases.”
LightWaterLife sustainable life kits also provide a solar power lighting system with 2 LED light bulbs. Ms. Anderson continued, “I have personally lived in the countryside before and you basically go to bed and wake up with the sun because that’s often all a family has. These light kits will allow children to still study at night. It also provided a soccer ball and mosquito net. It’s such a fantastic blessing of a gift to give to these families that literally have their lives improved overnight.”
After a demonstration of proper usage with the recipients, the HSMS staff distributed the kits and personally visited several houses to help set up the lights and filters in their homes. “Many families are saying a prayer for everyone tonight who donated to and/or served this awesome initiative. Oh, and out of pure gratitude, several families, after taking the buckets home, came back with fruit and vegetables to give to us as a ‘thank you’. Trust me, when we know these countryside families live with so little, gifts like these mean a lot,” commented Ms. Anderson.
